The theme of the 2016 Conference of the EARLI SIG 17 is Emerging Methodologies in Educational Research. This conference theme reflects an interest in state-of-the-art and upcoming approaches to collect and analyze data on learning and teaching, while offering also the opportunity to rethink the affordances of more traditional empirical techniques and ways of how these methods can be mixed, combined, and integrated. The theme aims to inspire submissions, not limit them, so we welcome all proposals that focus on the methodological aspects of the research process.

For the first time in the history of the SIG, the conference will host a series of pre-conference workshops dedicated to the conference theme for PhD students and post-doc researchers. The workshops aim to offer hands-on experience with selected topics for collecting and analyzing data with qualitative and quantitative approaches.
